April 4th Tox-Away Day Postponed
In order to abide by current restrictions in place to fight COVID-19, the Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District will be postponing the April 4th Tox-Away Day at Brownsburg High School. The District is working to determine an alternative date for the event and will notify the public via local news outlets, social media and its email newsletter.
Currently four other Tox-Away Days are scheduled for the year. Resident living in any part of Hendricks County are welcome to use any event. Each Tox-Away Day is open from 8am to 1pm.
- May 16th at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville
- July 11th at Hickory Elementary School in Avon
- September 19th at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville
- October 10th at Plainfield Middle School
Many of the items and materials accepted for disposal and recycling at Tox-Away Days can be disposed of, recycled or donated for reuse every day via local organizations and waste management companies. Residents are encouraged to visit the District’s online Recycling Directory at HendricksSolidWaste.com/online-directory to find alternatives.
Our first Tox-Away Day for 2020 will be held at Brownsburg High School, (1000 South Odell Street) on Saturday, April 4, 2020, from 8 am to 1 pm. Please enter the event from Odell Street.
Tox-Away Days are opportunities for Hendricks County households to properly recycle or dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW), tires, electronics & appliances.
All HHW (chemicals, auto fluids, fluorescent bulbs, batteries, pesticides, herbicides, medicines, sharps, fire extinguishers, propane tanks, etc.) is accepted from households free of charge. Latex paint should not be brought to Tox-Away Day for disposal. Instead, dry it out & throw it away.
Fees are charged for the recycling of TV’s ($20/$25), appliances ($5/$10) and tires (over a certain number). Cash & check accepted.
