RECYCLING UPDATES!
Things are always changing in the world of recycling. New innovations and technologies continually create uses and end markets for materials that might otherwise be thrown in the landfill or incinerated. So, let’s take a look at a couple of materials that have recently been added to recycling programs here in Hendricks County.
Cartons
These handy containers have been a part of our daily lives for many years. And now, thanks to innovations in recycling, the high quality paper fibers used to manufacture them can be effectively recovered and recycled. So, that’s great news for those milk & juice cartons and soup, broth & wine boxes.
Those of you that subscribe to Ray’s Curbside Recycling service or utilize the District’s Recycling Drop-off Centers can begin including your cartons in the bin! (Republic Services does not yet accept cartons in its curbside recycling service, but hopes to in the future…stay tuned…)
Plastic Bags, Wraps & Film
We aren’t just talking about plastic shopping bags here. You can also recycle: bread and produce bags, dry cleaning bags, air pillows and bubble wrap, zip close food storage bags, product wrap (around case of bottled water, paper towels or diapers), cereal box liners, furniture and electronics wrap, etc. Please recycle only clean, dry plastic bags and film. Remove receipts or other items from bags.
Those of you that subscribe to Republic Service’s curbside recycling program can include these items right in your curbside recycling container. (Ray’s Recycling plans to soon begin accepting these items in its program as well.)
