Q: How do I recycle used motor oil? PDF Print E-mail

Answer:  One gallon of motor oil is capable of polluting one million gallons of drinking water.  Proper disposal is critical.  Fortunately, there are many local options for the recycling of used motor oil.  Most auto service centers will accept up to five gallons of used oil per visit.

In an effort to minimize cost, the District does not accept used motor oil at Tox-Away Day.  Motor oil is expensive to collect at a temporary site like the District utilizes for Tox-Away Days.

A list of local auto service centers that accept motor oil is included in the District's Guide to Being Green.
